Additional Information: State Police immediately launch an investigation after Ilonka was reported missing. Over 100 officers, along with volunteers from the Huntington Township Fire Company descended on the Cann’s sprawling property. They searched extensively the home, grounds, and neighboring farms, but turned up nothing.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Sgt. Karl Guers, “There was no sign of any violence. Their house was clean. As I remember, there were a few dishes in the sink. She just disappeared into thin air. We checked just about every inch of that farm. We’d done a lot of walking and tramping through woods, always looking for fresh ground or what might be a grave or something like that. She just disappeared off the face of the earth.”
