Markia Benson was a professional working single woman. She had just moved to a new complex in Secane, PA. She was brutally murdered on March 30th, 2016. The police have only one main suspect but can’t link him forensically. They are still looking for information to bring justice to Markia’s family.

Last Known Location Alive: Her residence. She was texting with her mother the morning she was discovered.
Injury Description: Markia was found dead, naked in the bathtub with the water hot enough to cause burns still running. Michael Chitwood of the Upper Darby Police Superintendent was quoted as saying to NBC10, “The apartment itself was in total disarray - blood on the walls, feces on the floors, some writing on the walls”. The wall writing was found to have been completed with red lipstick. The cause of death was later to be determined due to “blunt & sharp” force head injuries complicated by immersion and extensive scald burns. Police department has yet to reveal what the writing said but they say that there was a “derogatory” word used to describe a female written over 3 times. There were no signs of sexual assault.
